How to Donate Kids Goods
Through Mum Matching
Step 1: Sign Up
Fill out the Let’s Match Mums apply form with a few key details to help us find your ideal match. We try to match you with a mum whose child is a size or a few sizes smaller than yours, so your items will be just right for the next stage (similar to any friends you give hand me downs to).
We take gender into account when possible to ensure a better fit. If you have things like strollers or baby equipment, we’ll ask in the form—we get specific requests for those.
Step 2: We Find a Match
We look for a mum nearby who has a child about a year younger than yours—ideally within a 30-minute drive. If the match isn’t a good fit or the distance is too far, that’s no problem—we’re more than happy to rematch you and wait until we find someone closer.
Step 3: Get Notified
We email you with the mum's details so you can decide whether you'd like to go ahead with the match. Matches usually happen quite quickly, typically within a week. If you haven’t heard from us, please check your spam folder or feel free to email us at louisamay@letsmatchmums.com to follow up.
Step 5: Make the Drop
If you accept, you can do a one-time drop-off or keep the relationship going—whatever works best for you. Once matched, we’ll send you a short video guide with helpful tips, and our team is always available to support you or answer questions.
FAQs
Can I do one drop only?
Yes! You can do a one-time drop-off or keep sharing goods with your match over time—it's completely up to you.
Do you accept baby equipement?
This is a mum-to-mum connection, so it's up to your match to decide what they’d like to receive. We recommend sending photos first and confirming they’re happy to accept items before arranging a drop-off.
What if I don’t want to go ahead with the match
That’s totally fine. You can decline a match or opt out at any time—no pressure and no judgment.
How far away will my match be?
We aim to match you with a mum who lives within a 30-minute drive from your location.
What happens after I accept a match?
Once you accept, we’ll send you a short video guide with tips, and our team will be on hand if you have any questions or need help.
Do I need to clean or sort the items before dropping them off?
Yes, please! We ask that all items are clean, in good condition, and sorted neatly. This helps make the experience positive for both mums.
How long do I have to wait to get matched?
Right now, we have more refugee mums looking for matches than local mums giving, so matches can happen quite quickly.
Can we reach out to you?
You can ask whatever questions you like to louisamay@letsmatchmums.com.
What criteria do you use to match mums?
We match based on a few simple but thoughtful criteria: child’s clothing size and gender:
“I really appreciate this kind gesture and have nothing but gratitude and respect for the work your organisation and the moms that participate in it do.”
